ANA'S STORY
Anna has been in the U.S. for 25 years, working tirelessly to support her three children back home through university. Four years ago, her world changed when her husband, who was a lead pastor, passed away. The loss was compounded by funeral expenses and the eventual closure of their church. Yet, Anna’s resilience never waned. She found a new church community in Madison and continued working full-time as a floral designer, bringing beauty to others’ lives. Despite facing her own health struggles, including extremely painful varicose veins, she praises God that she's still able to stand, walk and work! She shows up each day with joy and gratitude.
Through our Agape Scholarship program at Mercy Dental Missions, Anna received the help she needed to obtain significant dental care. One of her favorite sayings is from her late husband's home country,
“Échale ganas,” meaning
“give it your all,” perfectly reflects her spirit. Anna’s story reminds us that even in the face of immense hardship, hope and gratitude can bloom.
